Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Furnish leadership and assist with the formulation of a desirable educational program for students.
• Provide support, referral, and follow-up services for targeted students.
• Assist Student Services, Special Education, Federal Programs, and other programs to support at-risk students.
• Assist schools, nurses, and families in obtaining social/health services for children.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Juvenile Court, and other agencies on family intervention.
• Conduct home visits as a liaison between school and home.
• Help develop action plans for students at risk of dropping out or attendance/behavior problems.
• Advise administrators, counselors, and teachers on intervention programs.
• Maintain punctual attendance.
• Conduct Parent Education/Parenting Support classes.
• Provide crisis intervention and assessments.
• Offer individual and group counseling.
• Collaborate with higher education to supervise social work interns.
• Attend Juvenile Court proceedings on behalf of Alabaster City Schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB GOALS

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Furnish leadership and assist with the formulation of a desirable educational program for the students of Alabaster City Schools.
2. Provide support, referral, and follow-up services for targeted students and students attending Alabaster City Schools.
3. Assist personnel in Student Services, Special Education, Federal Programs, and other programs to establish and implement a plan of action for at-risk students.
4. Assist schools, school nurses, and families in obtaining social and/or health services for children.
5. Work with the Department of Human Resources, Juvenile Court, and other agencies in the development and implementation of family intervention.
6. Conduct home visits as a liaison between school and home.
7. Assist school officials, teachers, Juvenile Court, and parents with developing a plan of action for students who are at-risk of dropping out of school and/or having attendance and behavior problems.
8. Serve as an advisor to administrators, counselors, and teachers concerning assigned program of intervention.
9. Be regular and punctual in attendance.
10. Conduct Parent Education/Parenting Support classes.
11. Provide crisis intervention and assessments.
12. Provide individual and group counseling.
13. Work with higher education to supervise social work interns.
14. Attend Juvenile Court proceedings of behalf on Alabaster City Schools including Early Warning, Truancy Court, and Agency Meetings.
15. Perform other duties that might be reasonably assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Nine-month (187-day) contract.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.

Appropriate placement on current salary schedule.
