General Overview
This job assists the Invasive Cardiologist in the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures; demonstrates leadership in collaboration with co‑workers to achieve efficient and cost‑effective functioning of the department.
Essential Responsibilities
- Integrates knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular physiology, pathophysiology, and procedural techniques being performed, and assists accordingly. (45%)
- Maintains expertise in current radiographic imagery techniques as they relate to invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures. (15%)
- Orients inexperienced staff on the operation of laboratory equipment; troubleshoots malfunctions, and is knowledgeable of proper support personnel and instances when they need to be contacted. (15%)
- Anticipates adverse reactions / conditions when monitoring the effects of all procedural activities, and responds appropriately. (15%)
- Completes required documentation for procedures e.g. regulatory, billing protocols and image storage and archival. (10%)
Qualifications
Minimum
- 3 years’ experience in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology.
- Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) – OR – Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) – OR – Radiography (R) – OR – Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) certification issued by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
- ACLS.
- Critical thinking, decisive and independent judgment.
- CPR – American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
