Job summary

Intermountain Health’s McKay‑Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT is seeking a full‑time Interventional Technologist to perform angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques and imaging. Level I or II hire depending on qualifications.

Four 10‑hour shifts, 7:00‑5:00, with on‑call after hours and one or two weeknights plus every 5th–7th weekend. Candidate will maintain licensure, provide patient education, and ensure safety and quality compliance.

Qualifications

  • Utah state licensure required.
  • Minimum 2 years Angio/Interventional experience or Vascular/Interventional radiography certification.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • BCLS required; ACLS within 120 days.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to Angio lab policies.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, prepares the patient for exams, and assists with equipment.
  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of invasive, diagnostic and interventional supplies and techniques.
  • Follows protocols for consent, QC programs, and reporting equipment issues.

Interventional Technologist

Join Our Team as an Interventional Technologist! We are seeking an experienced and skilled full‑time Interventional Technologist to join our healthcare team at McKay‑Dee Hospital. Qualified applicants may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $5,000 and relocation assistance, if applicable.

A standard work week is four 10‑hour shifts (one weekday off), 7:00‑5:00 with on‑call after hours. On‑call frequency is one or two weeknights each week and every 5th to 7th weekend.

The Interventional Technologist is responsible for completing angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images. Incumbent may be hired as a Level I or II, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains up‑to‑date licensure and certifications required for position.
  • Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech, according to Angio lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff.
  • Develops specific knowledge about invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
  • Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable QC (Quality Control) programs, and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns.
Level I Minimum Qualifications
  • Relevant Utah state licensure required.
  • Minimum 2 years Angio/Interventional experience or Vascular/Interventional radiography certification required.
  • ARRT – American Registry Upon Hire Required.
  • BCLS – Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required.
  • ACLS – within 120 days required for non‑pediatric hospitals.
  • Ability to recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other caregivers and patients.
  • Knowledge and adherence to infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Demonstrated skills and expertise in complex diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Level II Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Vascular/Interventional Radiography (VIR) certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for a long time.
