Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform angiography procedures, scrubbing and circulating as needed.
  • Coordinate patient care and relay information to care teams.
  • Operate IR equipment to produce high-quality images.
  • Follow contrast protocols and maintain aseptic technique.
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in on-call scheduling.
  • Support training of new angio staff and provide mentoring.

Join Our Team as an Interventional Technologist!

We are seeking an experienced and skilled full-time Interventional Technologist to join our healthcare team at McKay-Dee Hospital.

Qualified Applicants may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $5,000 and relocation assistance, if applicable.

The Interventional Technologist is responsible for completing Angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images. This role will work the dayshift from 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Rotating Call on Nights and Weekends is required. Incumbent may be hired on as an Angio Tech in Training or level I, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates proficiency and independence in all assigned roles within the department, including scrubbing and circulating a wide range of both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers before and after procedures.
  • Performs advanced interventional procedures including ablation procedures, stents, thrombectomy, embolization, and atherectomy.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new angio staff. Provides teaching, coaching, and mentoring as directed by the unit coordinator and/or assigned preceptor.
  • Understands and operates IR equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, pathology, and patient positioning related to diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Must be able to adhere to on‑call expectations, including minimum response times for stroke centers and trauma designated hospitals.

Angio Interventionalist Tech in Training Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Applicable State License
  • An American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) technologist who is currently attending and receiving formal training from an accredited training program or successful completion of formal training from an approved/accredited school or a licensed American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) technologist who has been selected to cross‑train in another modality
Angio Interventionalist I Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 years Angio/Interventional experience or Vascular/Interventional radiography certification
  • ARRT - American Registry Upon Hire Required
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS - within 120 Days Required for non‑pediatric hospitals
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced within 120 Days Required for only pediatric hospitals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vascular/Interventional Radiography (VIR) certification Preferred
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for caregiver to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require caregiver to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and supplies with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.). May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
