Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Unit Coordinator/Charge Nurse for the Interventional Radiology unit in Olathe. This full-time role leads patient care assignments, staffing, throughput, and performance management under the Nurse Manager.

You will mentor staff, support hiring and education, and drive unit efficiency and patient satisfaction. Ideal candidates hold a BSN with current BLS certification and have leadership experience in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing
• BSN degree required upon hire for Southwest KC market locations; ADN nurses hired before November 1, 2025 must enroll in BSN within 6 months and finish by the third anniversary of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provides charge nurse responsibilities, including assignments, management of throughput, staffing to matrix, and responding to patient and staff needs.
• Manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs.
• Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of the staff.
• Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff.
• Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily on-going monitoring and performance management.
• Serves as a role model and mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction.
