The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist for the Rad Intervention unit. You will perform diagnostic imaging, protect patients with radiation safety, and assist physicians during procedures.

Requirements include ARRT(R) certification, IL licensure, AMA-accredited radiologic technologist training, and strong communication. Shift is 8am-6:30pm with call rotations; full-time position in a level 1 trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal radiologic technology training from an AMA approved program.
• ARRT (R) certification and IL licensure required.

Responsabilidades

• Perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned.
• Apply radiation protection principles and ensure patient safety.
• Assist physicians during imaging procedures and prepare contrast media.
• Position patients and operate imaging equipment with minimal supervision.
• Maintain equipment and patient records per established procedures.
• Engage in continuing education and participate in staff orientation.

Performs diagnostic imaging studies as assigned. Applies principles of radiation protection. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of imagining procedures. Provides necessary patient care during the course of imaging procedures.

Essential Job Functions

• Has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
• Positions patient
• Selects proper technical factors
• Utilizes computer to record patient status
• Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality
• Assists physician in performing imaging studies
• Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists the physician
• Works independently in assigned areas as assigned
• Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients
• Handles patient in conformance with all established safety procedures
• Process images and patient records in conformance with all established operational procedures
• Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures where appropriate
• Instructs patient in exam procedures
• Is aware of and responsive to physical and psychological needed of patients under his/her care
• Maintains technical imaging equipment in proper working condition
• Reports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to appropriate person
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and neat according to current 5S standards
• Maintains an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies utilizing established par levls
• Participates in continuing educational programs to maintain and upgrade technical skills
• Contributes to the orientation of new staff technologist and student technologist as required
• Performs other duties as requested

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school for radiologic technologists
• Current certification by ARRT (R). Interventional Radiology (IR) cross training available.
• Licensure by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
• Additional skills sought include effective communication skills and ability to work effectively with other staff members who make up the team providing care to patients
