Job summary

Mercyhealth in Wisconsin is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist to prepare patients and equipment, operate fluoroscopy, and assist physicians with imaging and contrast injections. The role also handles scheduling, image transfer to PACS, and basic coding and billing support.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate degree in Radiography, ARRT registration, VI certification, a state radiographer license, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Radiography or equivalent.
  • Two years experience in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Two years experience in Interventional Radiology with VI certification.
  • ARRT registered; State licensed radiographer; CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operates fluoroscope to aid Physician to view and guide wire or catheter through blood vessel to area of interest.
  • Fills automatic injector with contrast media, sets flow rate, and activates injection of contrast media.
  • Acquires appropriate images with x-ray or ultrasound and sends to PACS.
  • Schedules and coordinates procedures to maximize productivity.
  • Performs intermediate level patient coding and billing.
  • Monitors inventory and assists with department projects.

OVERVIEWThe radiology staff member prepares patients and equipment for procedures, maintains a sterile environment, and assists the physician by operating imaging equipment and injecting contrast media as directed. They also capture and organize quality images, schedule procedures, manage supplies, handle basic coding and billing, and help with department projects.SCHEDULE: Monday - FridaySHIFT: 8am-4:30pm or 7:30am-4pm, call rotation requiredESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPositions patient for exam, has appropriate supplies ready for procedure, maintains sterile field.Operates fluoroscope to aid Physician to view and guide wire or catheter through blood vessel to area of interest.Fills automatic injector with contrast media, sets flow rate, and activates injection of contrast media into blood vessels of patient, as directed by Physician.Acquires appropriate images with x-ray or ultrasound, then sends quality images to PACS for viewing.Schedules and coordinates procedures to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.Performs intermediate level patient coding and billing.Monitors inventory controlUtilizes appropriate scripting, barriers and patient identifiers.Assists coordinator as requested with projects and completes within the agreed upon time.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEAssociate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical schoolTwo years experience in Diagnostic RadiologyTwo years experience in Interventional Radiology with VI certification.CERTIFICATION/LICENSUREARRT registered.
