Job summary

IR Centers at TheUrology Group seeks an Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Scrub Tech) to prepare patients and rooms, maintain a sterile environment, and assist physicians during procedures in an outpatient setting in Reston, VA.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, valid BLS, at least 1 year sterile procedural experience and ARRT certification preferred. This full-time role involves coordinating with the team and ensuring smooth operation of radiology suites.

Qualifications

• Must have basic sterile technique and operate in a sterile field.
• Experience scrubbing in for radiology or surgical procedures is preferred.
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures.
• Set up and clean procedure rooms; review orders for necessary materials.
• Assist with patient prep, transfers, and positioning.
• Pass instruments to physicians and maintain sterile technique during procedures.
• Input patient data into equipment and assist with imaging documentation.
• Manage equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and waste disposal.
• Assist with accreditation surveys and communicate with physicians.

As an Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Scrub Tech), you will assist in preparing patients and procedure rooms for surgeries, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready. You will maintain a sterile environment, assist physicians during procedures by passing instruments, and help with patient positioning and transfers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Valid BLS Certification
• At least 1 year of hands-on in a sterile procedural environment in the last 5 years. Must have scrubbed cases
• ARRT Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures
• Reviews patient orders to determine necessary materials and sets up/cleans procedure rooms
• Assists with patient prep, transfers, and positioning
• Inputs patient data into the C-Arm and assists physicians during interventional procedures, maintaining sterile technique
• Complies with HIPAA, draws up and labels IV medications, and processes/archives x-ray images
• Manages equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and hazardous waste disposal
• May serve as Radiation Safety Officer and assist with accreditation surveys
• Ensures effective communication with physicians
• Assists with patient billing, verifying procedure charges, CPT, and ICD9 codes

Skills

• Proven working experience as a surgical technologist
• Proficient in maintaining a sterile field
• Experienced in scrubbing in for surgical procedures
• Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
• Working knowledge of interventional equipment

Working conditions

Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases. Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and assist in patient transfers up to 400 pounds. Standing in a protective apron for 60-90 minutes is required. Reasonable accommodations for disabilities are available.
