Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs special/invasive radiology procedures on patients, ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, administering contrast when necessary, positioning patients, selecting appropriate imaging techniques, and ensuring the technical quality of images.
- Responsible for providing surgical scrub duties and operating X-ray equipment.
- Ensures all necessary supplies and X-ray equipment are ready and available for each assigned case.
- Ensures timely turnover in the Vascular Lab, observing cost-effectiveness and conservation when opening supplies for cases.
- Restocks Vascular Lab supplies as workload permits and assists in pulling supplies for upcoming cases.
- Sets up and maintains X-ray equipment for major and minor interventional procedures, applying specialized radiology knowledge.
- Communicates effectively with medical staff to coordinate patient care across disciplines.
- Responds promptly to workload changes, adjusting assignments to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Plans work steps considering time, supplies, and support from other departments to ensure successful completion of duties.
- Follows all safety rules, reports accidents, and addresses minor hazards. Communicates hazards to peers and management.
- Ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting continuous safety and environmental improvements.
- Willing and able to travel to multiple Vascular Labs throughout the DFW area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiology Technology.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in special procedures, cath labs, etc.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Must have ARRT certification in Radiology.
- AART certification in Interventional Radiology (IR) is preferred.
- Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
