Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs interventional radiology examinations on patients according to department procedures and under supervision. The role requires significant judgment in executing duties.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist Radiologist during all interventional radiology procedures as directed.
2. Ensure continuity of patient care within the interventional radiology section.
3. Communicate clinical observations to Radiologist during procedures.
4. Demonstrate competency in RIS/HIS modules relevant to the role.
5. Inject contrast for procedures following department policy.
6. Provide patient education regarding their examinations.
7. Train and teach students in their designated technology, if applicable.
8. Maintain professional development through participation in in-services and continuing education.
9. Follow downtime procedures to ensure continuity of patient care.
10. Understand and implement sterile and sharps techniques.
11. Ensure high-quality digital images sent to PACS, verifying patient identity and accuracy of medical records.
12. Maintain competence in using the Patient Transport System.
13. Contribute to department goals, including achieving a Press Ganey score of 90%, by providing patient education and personalized business cards; document patient interactions as required.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Frequent use of fingers and hands, standing or walking up to 7 hours daily, sitting up to 1 hour, pushing, pulling, lifting patients up to 300 pounds with assistance, lifting objects up to 40 pounds, frequent bending and reaching, normal hearing and vision.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited ARRT program and ARRT registered.

Training and Experience:

Minimum 1-year experience in interventional radiology preferred; required to obtain advanced IR registry within 1 year; CPR certification within 6 months; computer usage experience required.
