Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking an Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist to support diagnostic imaging across Ascension acute care facilities. You’ll work in a dynamic team and assist with procedures, patient prep, and equipment setup.

Responsibilities include selecting technical parameters, administering contrast within scope, monitoring patients, and coordinating with Radiologists and Physician Assistants to ensure safe, high‑quality imaging. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or transfer date.
  • One or more of the following professional credentials: CCI‑ Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Cardiographic Tech, ARRT Radiologic Technologist (Radiography).
  • Advanced Life Support preferred; Pediatric Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates diagnostic imaging equipment for IR procedures.
  • Prepares and positions patients; selects appropriate technical parameters.
  • Administers contrast media and medications within regulatory scope.
  • Monitors patients and procedures; suggests refinements as needed.
  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and coordinates with Radiologists and PAs.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Conducts diagnostic organ and body scans to assist with medical procedures.

  • Prepares and positions patients while selecting appropriate technical parameters.

  • Administers contrast media and medications within regulatory scopes of practice.

  • Monitors patients and protocols during procedures to recommend refinements.

  • Strictly adheres to radiation safety guidelines and regulatory standards. Performing specialized imaging, including complex vascular and interventional procedures, in coordination with Radiologists and Physician Assistants.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • One or more of the following:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
What additional preferences we're seeking
  • 1+ year of Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience
