Job summary

Care New England is seeking a qualified registered nurse for the Special Procedures area. You will provide direct patient care under approved protocols, educate patients and families, and serve as a liaison with radiology and nursing units to ensure seamless care and communication.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, RI licensure, and current BLS/ACLS with 3+ years in Critical Care or Special Procedures, plus the ability to respond to emergencies and manage complex patient needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
• RI State Licensure is required.
• Current BLS, ACLS and Moderate Sedation certifications, plus 3+ years of Critical Care/Special Procedures experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under an approved protocol and adjust care as needed.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment, discharge planning, and follow-up exams.
• Act as liaison between Special Procedures and nursing units to ensure continuity of care.
• Review medical records and lab data; communicate abnormal findings to physicians and assess patient readiness for procedures.
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to supervisors and physicians.
• Assist radiologist with procedures requiring specialized X-ray equipment.
• Respond to emergencies per established procedures.
• Perform nursing skills per physician orders and hospital policies.
• Communicate with physicians and departments to ensure continuity of care.
