Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown invites applications for the Cardiovascular Technologist/Interventional Extern, a temporary extern position supporting imaging and interventional procedures under direct supervision. You will assist with patient prep, equipment checks, and flow coordination, while gaining hands-on experience in a clinical radiology department.

Requirements include high school diploma, enrollment in a radiology program, and BLS within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an Accredited Radiology School.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Cardiovascular/Interventional Technologists in planning and execution of imaging procedures.
• Greets patients and facilitates department experience.
• Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification.
• Under direct supervision, provides direct patient care to facilitate imaging services including sterile tray setup, prepping patient, supplies, scrubs, circulating, and initiating fluoro.
• Assists patient in gowning and transfer to exam table before procedures.
• Coordinates inpatient department flow by communicating with departments and floors.
• Assesses patient comfort and provides support accordingly.
• Escorts patient to/from procedure suite and assists with arrival/departure from department.
• Promotes team approach by interacting with technical, support, nursing, residents and medical staff.
• Engages in problem solving and systems implementation to support high quality, cost effective patient care.
• Maintains confidentiality of Protected Health Information.
