PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Supports the Organization’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and policy requirements.
Assists physicians in performing a variety of interventional radiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality control of the radiological equipment in accordance with the Organization’s policies, procedures, and training. Assists with the inventory and supply management.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs activities necessary for patient and procedure room preparation for radiology procedures, in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Reviews patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials and supplies.
- Sets up and stocks the procedure room and trays with supplies and equipment before procedures; cleans the room afterward, including equipment cleaning.
- Prepares the patient and procedure room, and documents preparations as needed.
- Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and addresses concerns.
- Prepares patients for procedures by positioning, shaving, and prepping.
- Transports patients to and from the procedure room.
- Inputs patient data into the C-Arm system.
- Acts as scrub assistant during procedures, assisting physicians and administering fluoroscopy while maintaining sterile technique.
- Maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPAA policies.
- Draws and labels intravenous medications per policy.
- Processes and archives X-ray images according to policies and regulations.
- Supports quality standards and CQI initiatives to ensure high patient care quality.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of medical records and maintains their integrity.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment; inspects equipment regularly; makes recommendations for repairs or replacements.
- Handles disposal of hazardous waste and manages supplies efficiently.
- Participates in meetings, assists with training, and addresses physician concerns.
- Reviews billing procedures for accuracy, and manages inventory and supplies.
- Acts as Radiation Safety Officer, monitoring radiation badges and conducting safety in-services.
- Participates in regulatory surveys and addresses deficiencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work environment typical of healthcare facilities; may be exposed to infectious materials. Must lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds, and transfer patients up to 400 pounds. Able to stand for extended periods in protective gear.
- 10% travel required.
SUPERVISION:

EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
- Current ARRT Certification and/or State Licensure as per regulations.
- Interventional Radiology certificate preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 4–6 years’ related experience desirable; 1 year preferred with ARRT certification.
- Knowledge of interventional equipment, sterile techniques, and safety precautions.
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Experience with inventory management.
