Job summary

University of California San Diego Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - Interventional Pulmonary for a per diem role at Jacobs Medical Center. The incumbent will support ICU, ER and floor care with interventional pulmonary procedures including bronchoscopy and EBUS.

Required are CA RCP license and RRT, with two-year RT education; BLS/BART at hire and RAT within 6 months. This position offers a variable schedule and 20% appointment, with long-term involvement in education and patient care.

Qualifications

• Two (2) year advance practice RT Education Program/AS Degree.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (CA).
• BART or BLS at time of hire with RAT within 6 months.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong communication and empathy.
• Demonstrates critical and clinical thinking for RT interventions.

Responsibilities

• Administers all general Respiratory Therapy procedures (humidity/aerosol therapy, lung inflation, secretion clearance).
• Initiates, monitors, troubleshoots and maintains patients on continuous ventilatory support.
• Performs invasive and noninvasive monitoring and diagnostic techniques in ICU/ER/floor care.
• Assists with bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonary procedures (EBUS, navigation bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, chest tube).
