Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking an experienced registered nurse to support the Interventional Pulmonary Clinical Program. The role coordinates diagnostic and therapeutic regimes for patients across multiple teams, explains procedures, and assists with airway and pleural interventions for inpatients and outpatients.

Qualifications

• College or university degree in related field.
• 2-5 years of related work experience.
• Current Illinois RN license; BLS, CPR, ACLS and/or PALS certifications.
• Preferred: background with interventional pulmonary procedures.

Responsibilities

• Handles confidential information per HIPAA.
• Provides compassionate patient care with age-specific considerations.
• Involves multidisciplinary team to support patient and family needs.
• Completes patient assessments, documentation, and interpretations.
• Uses professional judgment for timely physician intervention.
• Initiates life-support actions when needed and communicates with physicians.
• Schedules and coordinates airway and pleural interventions for inpatients and outpatients.
• Prepares operating room for bronchoscopy and pleural interventions.
• Sets up bronchoscopy suite for diagnostic and pleural interventions.
• Assists outpatient interventional pulmonary clinic with scheduling and referrals.
• Delivers patient education materials and ensures home supply orders.
• Manages interventional pulmonology procedure schedules and communicates with patients.
