Job summary

E-Z Bel Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced installer to build and wire traffic signal systems, supporting equipment, and detection devices according to engineered layouts.

You will work outdoors in various weather conditions, using bucket trucks and aerial lifts, while prioritizing safety and compliance with MUTCD and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience in traffic signal installation, electrical work, or a similar construction trade.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and riser diagrams accurately.
• Working knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA, and TxDOT standards is preferred.
• Experience with bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and basic rigging.
• Hands-on skill with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing instruments.
• Comfort operating at heights with a strong safety mindset.
• Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Decode intersection layouts, engineered schematics, and overhead signal plans to plan work.
• Install and terminate signal heads, pedestrian push buttons, and detection devices per specifications.
• Pull, route, and splice overhead and underground conductors through conduit with correct color coding and terminations.
• Set and assemble signal poles, mast arms, and brackets with proper hardware and torque.
• Install and configure detection systems, controllers, cabinets, and battery backups to maintain uptime.
• Use bucket trucks and aerial lifts to position signals for optimal orientation and visibility.
• Run voltage, continuity, and signal tests with multimeters and diagnostic gear.
• Adhere to MUTCD, OSHA, and company practices for aerial work and electrical safety.

Mission

Install, wire, and commission traffic signal systems, pedestrian push buttons, detection devices, and supporting equipment per engineered layouts. Work spans overhead and underground environments, using bucket trucks and aerial lifts, while meeting MUTCD, OSHA, and project requirements. The outdoors is your office—every season, every condition—backed by uncompromising electrical and aerial safety.

What You'll Do

• Decode intersection layouts, engineered schematics, and overhead signal plans to plan your work.
• Install and terminate signal heads, pedestrian push buttons, and detection devices aligned with specifications.
• Pull, route, and splice overhead and underground conductors through conduit, ensuring correct color coding and terminations.
• Set and assemble signal poles, mast arms, and brackets using the right hardware, torque, and rigging procedures.
• Install and configure detection systems, controllers, cabinets, and battery backups to maintain uptime.
• Use bucket trucks and aerial lifts to position signals for optimal orientation and visibility.
• Run voltage, continuity, and signal tests with multimeters and related diagnostic gear.
• Apply MUTCD, OSHA, and company practices for aerial work, electrical safety, and traffic control.
• Keep wiring inside cabinets, junction boxes, and poles meticulously organized.
• Assist with material staging, inventory, and loading/unloading poles, arms, and cabinets.
• Log installations, inspections, and adjustments using project logs or digital tools.
• Alert the Foreman or Leadman immediately to layout conflicts, material gaps, or safety hazards.
• Provide traffic control and flagging to protect crews, equipment, and motorists.
• Take on additional related duties as needed.

What It Takes to Succeed

• 1–5 years of experience in traffic signal installation, electrical work, or a similar construction trade.

• Competence with bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and basic rigging—used with a safety-first mentality.

• Exceptional attention to detail and comfort operating at heights.
• Commitment to safety protocols, including PPE, aerial safety, and electrical hazard prevention.
• Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record for company vehicle operation.

Physical Demands

Expect outdoor work year-round—heat, cold, rain, and harsh conditions included. You’ll stand, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs. with assistance when moving poles, mast arms, equipment, and materials. You must be comfortable with dust, noise, vibration, and working at heights in bucket trucks or aerial lifts.
