Job summary

Phoenix Union High School District No. 210 is seeking a School Athletics Coach for the 2026-2027 spring season at Betty Fairfax High School. This position is District Wide as part of the Athletics department.

The coach educates students through interscholastic competition, enforces policies, ensures safety, and promotes academic achievement while modeling ethical conduct. Responsible for supervision and coordination of practices, games, and equipment.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be at least 21 years of age.
• Possess a current CPR certification.
• Meet coaching qualifications and certifications per district criteria.
• Pass background investigation per the District.
• Be recommended by Principal or designee and receive Governing Board approval.
• Possess an active Arizona DPS IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Head Coach must possess a valid Arizona Teacher or Substitute Certificate.
• Lower level coaches must be under direct supervision of certified staff.
• Volunteer coaches must be supervised by a full-time certified staff member.

Responsibilities

• Be knowledgeable of and enforce federal, state and district policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
• Adhere to standards of professional conduct as outlined in Governing Board Policy.
• Follow NO Pass/NO Play policy.
• Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants in practice areas, locker rooms, and on buses/vans.
• Support the total school athletic program by developing and implementing strategies for encouraging student participation in all athletic programs.
• Ensure accurate inventory, storage, issuance, care and collection of all school athletic equipment.
• Adhere to District policies, procedures and guidelines related to transportation, student travel and supervision of students, use of facilities and management of keys.
• Schedule, organize, supervise and proactively control the environment related to practices, competition and pre/post season events.
• Knowledge of sport being coached.
• Maintain and manage budgets tied to the athletic program.
• Ensure proper supervision and conduct by all assistant and volunteer coaches.
