Job Summary

Interpretive Rangers conduct educational programs about the Snake River Canyon’s prehistory and the Celebration Park area, including petroglyph tours, interpretive walks to the Historic Guffey Bridge, and hands-on discussions of the life ways of the Paleo, Archaic, and historic native Americans of the region. Other duties include supervising the atlatl range, leading virtual programs, maintaining the facility (including cleaning restrooms), and supporting re-vegetation and sustainable program development.

The starting wage is $18.00 per hour

Job Summary

Interpretive Rangers conduct educational programs about the Snake River Canyon’s prehistory and the Celebration Park area, including petroglyph tours, interpretive walks to the Historic Guffey Bridge, and hands-on discussions of the life ways of the Paleo, Archaic, and historic native Americans of the region. Other duties include supervising the atlatl range, leading virtual programs, maintaining the facility (including cleaning restrooms), and supporting re-vegetation and sustainable program development.

Key Responsibilities

Education and Program Delivery

Work closely with groups of children, professional researchers, and the general public; organize school groups and agendas
Make program assignments
Deliver materials to the students and teachers, showing consistency of information between groups
Develop and present all aspects of the program
Assist with creation of annual work plan

Facility and Grounds Maintenance

Maintain the Celebration Park facility by cleaning restrooms, cleaning the visitor center, and keeping the grounds litter-free
Assist with daily set-up and breakdown of venues
Lead in implementing the re-vegetation of Celebration Park including:

Planting, transplanting, cultivating and caring for native plants
Adhering to irrigation schedules and collecting native seeds and plan
Mowing, trimming, chipping, weed-eating, and rototilling as assigned

Maintain existing trees and assist with additional arboriculture

Other Duties

Handle emergencies
Train staff members
Assist with phone logs and scheduling requests
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

Must be able to learn the required materials
Ability to become proficient in and learn the technology used in virtual field trips

Special Qualifications

Must successfully complete a background investigation
Valid driver’s license required

Education And Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalency required, college education preferred
