Job Overview:

The Arabic/Sudanese Arabic Interpreter provides in-person and/or remote interpretation to facilitate communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers. Responsibilities include providing professional interpretation services, tracking assignments with software, and participating in trainings and assessments.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies, via in-person, telephone, videoconference, or virtual means.
• Track assignments and work hours using designated software.
• Participate in trainings and assessments.
• Support special projects and initiatives as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma strongly preferred.
• Interpretation certification preferred.

Work Experience:

• Relevant interpretation experience preferred.
• Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

• Cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Spoken proficiency in Arabic.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Reliable transportation to appointment locations.

Working Environment:

• A mix of office, remote, and field work within the service area.
• May require occasional weekend or evening work.
