Job summary

Dassault Systèmes is seeking a motivated Quality Engineering Intern to join our R&D team in a hybrid role based in Pleasanton, CA. You will gain hands-on experience with test automation using Ranorex, ReadyAPI, and Playwright while exploring the LEO AI platform to accelerate testing.

Work with Quality Engineers, Developers, Product Owners, and UX/UI Designers throughout the SDLC, participate in agile ceremonies, and contribute to automated test frameworks and reusable components.

Qualifications

Role Description & Responsibilities

Our Dassault Systèmes R&D Quality Engineering team is excited to announce a hybrid internship opportunity based out of our Pleasanton, CA Dassault Systèmes office.

The R&D Quality Engineering team at DELMIAWorks is dedicated to consistently delivering high-quality ERP and MES software for small to mid-sized repetitive manufacturing businesses around the world. Our team focuses on continually improving product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence through modern testing practices, automation, and continuous improvement.

As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience with multiple test automation technologies and work alongside Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, Developers, Product Owners, and UX/UI Designers throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Expand automated test coverage by developing and maintaining automated tests using Ranorex, ReadyAPI, and Playwright across desktop, web, API, regression, and functional testing workflows.
• Learn to drive test automation using Dassault Systèmes' proprietary LEO AI platform, exploring how AI can be applied to accelerate test creation, improve automation efficiency, identify coverage opportunities, and support Quality Engineering workflows.
• Develop API test automation using ReadyAPI to validate integrations, services, data exchanges, and complex business workflows.
• Build and maintain modern web automation using Playwright, applying programming and testing best practices to create reliable and maintainable automated tests.
• Automate and maintain critical business workflows to identify weaknesses earlier, prevent escaped defects, increase regression coverage, and reduce repetitive manual testing.
• Develop reusable automation components and frameworks that improve maintainability, scalability, and efficiency across the automation suite.
• Collaborate as a key member of an Agile Scrum team with Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, Developers, Product Owners, and UX/UI Designers to ensure product functionality aligns with user needs and requirements.
• Identify, document, investigate, and track software defects to support efficient debugging, root‑cause analysis, and resolution.
• Analyze automation results and troubleshoot failures to distinguish product defects from automation, environment, configuration, or data issues.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand‑ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, contributing to continuous improvement and team alignment.

You will be part of a team that plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of DELMIAWorks software while gaining practical experience with traditional and emerging approaches to software quality and test automation.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with an interest in the following areas:

• Automation and Technical Problem Solving: Apply programming and analytical skills to automate complex software workflows and troubleshoot challenges involving UI automation, APIs, databases, test environments, and application behavior.
• AI‑Assisted Quality Engineering: Develop an interest in how AI can be responsibly applied to software testing and automation, including learning to use our proprietary Dassault Systèmes LEO AI platform as part of Quality Engineering workflows.
• Manufacturing and ERP Workflows: Learn to understand and validate workflows within manufacturing ERP and MES software, ensuring automated tests accurately represent real‑world business processes.
• Communication and Collaboration: Work effectively with cross‑functional team members, gather information from stakeholders, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Self‑Motivation and Learning Agility: Demonstrate curiosity and a proactive approach to learning new technologies, tools, products and methodologies while working both independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably C# and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, with SQL experience and an understanding of concepts such as CSS selectors, XPath, APIs and object‑oriented programming.
• Automation Interest: Interest in developing software test automation across UI, web and API technologies. Prior experience with Ranorex, ReadyAPI, Playwright or similar automation tools is a plus but not required.
• API Knowledge: Familiarity with REST APIs, HTTP concepts, JSON or API testing is preferred.
• Web Technologies: Familiarity with HTML, CSS, browser developer tools, selectors or modern web application architecture is a plus.
• AI and Emerging Technologies: Interest in learning how AI and emerging technologies can be applied to software development, testing and Quality Engineering.
• Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with one or more of the following areas is beneficial accounting, finance, manufacturing, ERP, MES, supply chain or software development.
• Relevant Experience: Coursework, projects, internships or other experience involving software development, software testing manufacturing, ERP, accounting or supply chain is a plus.
• Testing Knowledge: Basic understanding of software testing principles is preferred but not required.
• SDLC Understanding: Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the role of Quality Engineering within the development process.
• Version Control: Familiarity with Git or another version control system for managing code changes and collaborating with other engineers.
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to learn and work effectively with development, testing, collaboration, remote‑access and productivity tools.

We are seeking candidates who can commit to a longer engagement of up to one year and who are at least one year away from graduation:

• Interns may work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week during the first six months of the program.
• After the initial six months, the internship may transition to part‑time up to 30 hours per week for an additional six months.

This extended structure gives interns the opportunity to develop deeper technical and product knowledge, gain meaningful real‑world engineering experience, and make a measurable impact throughout their time with the team.

This is a flexible workrole based in our Pleasanton, CA office. Fully remote work is not permitted.
