Job summary

Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is offering a paid internship in Alabama for students in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. You will work on AI-based visual inspection, set up camera systems in production, and help define detectors.

The role includes 3D modeling, prototyping, and evaluating AI performance. Start date February 2027. Benefits include visa cost coverage and housing bonus; eligibility requires current university enrollment and a minimum of 3 semesters of study.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in university in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work in a team.
• Basic knowledge of Java and AI concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Benchmark AI-based visual inspection systems.
• Setup camera systems in production.
• Define detectors and evaluate AI accuracy.
• Benchmark different AI systems and present results to management.
• Prepare results in management slides.
• Support body-in-white production and 3D-modeling/prototyping tasks.

Qualifikationen

Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.

Education:

Student in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or in a related area, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Basic Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence - Neural Networks

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in University or in a gap year between Bachelor'sand Master’s degree
• Studies outside of the U.S.A(we are not accepting applications from students who are currently studying in the U.S.A)
• A minimum of 3semesters of studies in relevant field of study
• Available for a minimum of 6months
