Job summary

Infineon Technologies in Austin is seeking a firmware-focused engineer to develop and customize firmware for USB-PD controller solutions. You will validate firmware and hardware, perform interoperability testing for USB-C ecosystems, and author clear application notes for Type-C and USB-PD applications.

Join a hands-on team using oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers to debug interfaces during bring-up and document test results for engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• Hands-on experience in embedded system design and microcontroller programming
• Lab experience with oscilloscopes and common bench instruments
• Familiarity with USB, USB-PD, Type-C, I2C, SPI, UART and related troubleshooting
• Understanding of analog circuits, switching regulators, DC-DC converters, and power distribution is a bonus

Your role

Key responsibilities in your new role

• Firmware Development: Develop and customize firmware for reference designs and Infineon USB‑PD controller solutions
• Hardware Validation: Validate firmware and hardware against customer requirements and functional specifications
• Interoperability Testing: Perform interoperability and compliance tests on reference and customer designs for USB‑C and USB‑PD ecosystems
• Application Notes: Write clear application notes and example usage guides for Type‑C and USB‑PD applications
• Lab Debugging: Use oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and other lab equipment to debug interfaces and power circuits during bring‑up
• Documentation & Reporting: Record test results, log issues, and communicate findings to engineering and product teams

• Education: Pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• Hands‑on Experience: Practical experience in embedded system design, microcontroller programming, and board bring‑up preferred
• Lab Skills: Experience with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, power supplies, and common bench instruments
• Interface Knowledge: Familiarity with USB, USB‑PD, Type‑C, I2C, SPI, UART and related protocol troubleshooting
• Analog & Power: Understanding of analog circuits, switching regulators, LDOs, DC‑DC converters, and power distribution debugging is a bonus
