Job summary

The Oxford Forge site of American Axle & Manufacturing is seeking an EHS Intern to support daily Environmental Health & Safety activities. You will assist with inspections, record-keeping, training materials, and continuous improvement projects while gaining hands-on exposure in a metal-forming manufacturing environment.

You will work with EHS and plant leadership to identify opportunities, track corrective actions, maintain records, and participate in safety meetings and employee engagement

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining required EHS records, reports, forms, and documentation.

• Assist with incident documentation, investigations, and follow-up activities as directed.
• Support safety audits and compliance inspections.
• Assist with maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical-related documentation.
• Support environmental compliance activities and required record-keeping.
• Assist with monitoring housekeeping, PPE usage, machine guarding, ergonomics, and other workplace safety requirements.
• Help develop and organize safety communications, signage, and employee awareness materials.
• Assist with EHS projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collect and organize EHS data and assist with preparing reports and presentations.
• Work with employees and supervisors to promote safe work practices.
• Perform other EHS-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Description Summary

The Temporary EHS Intern will support the Environmental, Health & Safety function at Oxford Forge by assisting with daily EHS activities, compliance initiatives, safety inspections, training, documentation, and continuous improvement projects. This role will gain hands-on experience in a metal-forming manufacturing environment while supporting the plant’s commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.

The intern will work closely with EHS and plant leadership to help identify safety opportunities, track corrective actions, maintain records, support employee engagement initiatives, and assist with special EHS projects as assigned. This is a temporary position designed to provide additional support to the EHS function while providing valuable practical experience for an individual pursuing a career in Environmental Health & Safety.
