Job summary

Perryman Company is seeking a motivated Environmental Health and Safety summer intern for 2027 to support our EHS team in Pennsylvania. You will engage in projects across industrial hygiene, safety, fire safety, ergonomics, and environmental areas as needed.

You will maintain permits records, conduct testing, inspect facilities, and help implement safety features and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Environment, Health, and Safety or related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to report and correct unsafe workplace behaviors.
• Detail oriented.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Develop individual projects in industrial hygiene, general safety, fire safety, ergonomics, and environmental areas.
• Maintain records and conduct testing as required by permits.
• Perform Industrial Hygiene work including samples, results, observations.
• Monitor the work environment, inspect facilities for hazards and safety violations, and recommend safety features.
• Review plans for new machinery to ensure safety requirements.
• Support facilities to comply with Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations.
• Develop or modify safety or environmental policies and procedures.
• Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
• Conduct incident investigations and enter them into the ETQ system.
• Be an active participant in safety committees at each facility.
• Interact with Operators and Supervisors to solve EHS issues.

The Perryman Company is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated summer intern to join our Environmental Health and Safety team in 2027! Our EHS team ensures that we are up to date and compliant with Pennsylvania’s environmental health and safety standards.

Key Result Accountabilities

• Individual projects will be developed in the areas of industrial hygiene, general safety, fire safety, ergonomics, and environmental (as needed).
• Maintain records and conducts testing as required by applicable permits.
• Perform assigned Industrial Hygiene work including preparing samples, recording test results, and recording numerical and visual observations.
• Monitor the general work environment, inspect buildings and machines for hazards and safety violations, and recommend safety features in new processes and products.
• Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements.
• Support facilities to comply with all Federal, State, and Local Environmental regulations.
• Work as an individual or in a team to develop or modify existing safety or environmental work instructions, policies, or procedures.
• Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
• Conduct incident investigations and enter them into the ETQ investigation tracking system.
• Be an active participant in the safety committees at each facility.
• Interact on the floor with Operators and Supervisors to find solutions to EHS related issues.

Requirements

• In the process of obtaining a degree in Environment, Health, and Safety; Environmental Science; Environmental Engineering; or any other related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to report and correct unsafe workplace behaviors
• Must be detail orientated.
• Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
