Roman Music Therapy Services in Wakefield, MA seeks an Internship Director/Senior Clinician to guide interns and practicum students through transformational learning experiences grounded in AMTA standards.

You will supervise, mentor, and inspire teams, design rotations, and coordinate internship programs while delivering direct clinical services and ensuring compliance with national standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music therapy (or equivalent) and AMTA supervision training preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy.
• Strong musicianship across voice/instrumentation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and sound clinical judgment.
• Completion of the 5-hour AMTA CMTE on supervising interns, or other documented supervision training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and inspire interns and practicum students; provide clinical modeling and structured feedback.
• Collaborate with Internship Supervisors to design a rich rotation of learning experiences.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of interns; schedule weekly intern in-service sessions.
• Ensure AMTA National Roster Internship compliance and coordina­tion of paperwork and communication.
• Provide direct clinical services, assessments, interventions, and progress documentation.
• Maintain open communication with interns, supervisors, advisors, and leadership.

The Role: Internship Director/Senior Clinician

The Internship Director/Senior Clinician plays a pivotal educational and supervisory role at Roman Music Therapy Services, ensuring our music therapy interns and practicum students receive an exceptional training grounded in AMTA standards and music therapy best practices. With the support of the Internship Supervisors, you’ll provide guidance, structure, feedback, and clinical leadership that helps students grow into confident, ethical, and skillful professionals.

As the Internsip Director, you will:

Supervise, Mentor, and Inspire

• Lead/co-lead sessions and provide clinical modeling
• Offer structured feedback, observations, and monthly individual consultations
• Collaborate with the Internship Supervisors to design a rich rotation of learning experiences
• Serve as the point of contact for universities looking to place practicum students and work with the Clinical Program Manager to determine clinical fit within the team
• Maintain open communication with interns, supervisors, academic advisors, and Roman Music Therapy Services Leadership Team

Deliver High-Quality Clinical Services

• Provide direct service to an assigned caseload
• Conduct assessments, implement interventions, and document client progress
• Ensure sessions reflect evidence-based practice and honor client goals

Lead Program Administration

• Guide recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of interns
• Schedule and facilitate weekly intern in-service sessions
• Ensure AMTA National Roster Internship compliance
• Oversee coordination of paperwork, scheduling, and communication

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or equivalent
• 2+ years of full-time clinical experience
• Strong musicianship (voice, guitar, piano, percussion)
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and sound clinical judgement
• Completion of the 5-hour AMTA CMTE on supervising interns, or other documented supervision training
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Job Setting:

On-site at Roman Music Therapy Services in Wakefield, MA and off site visits in the surrounding Greater Boston, Metro West , and North Shore. When not in the field, our office in Wakefield will serve as your work site. This position reports to the Clinical Program Manager.
