Job summary

Cunningham Children's Home is seeking a Special Therapies Specialist to guide youth in residential care through emotional and behavioral growth using music and other modalities. You will work with clinical teams to create meaningful therapeutic experiences in a trauma-informed setting.

The role emphasizes safe environments, collaboration with interdisciplinary partners, and strong documentation to ensure high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music therapy required or enrolled in program with licensure pathway.
• Licensed Professional Music Therapist preferred or eligible within 3 months of hire.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required upon hire; lifeguard certification preferred.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License is required.

What You’ll Do:

• Leadindividual and group therapeutic sessionsusing music, movement, creative expression and other therapeutic techniques to help youth overcome challenges, express themselves, and grow emotionally.
• Work closely withinterdisciplinary teamsto ensure a comprehensive approach to care, collaborating with clinicians, community partners, and volunteers to maximize impact.
• Manage therapeutic equipment, maintainsafe and nurturing environments, and ensure high standards of documentation and reporting in line with agency policies.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in music therapy
• Licensed Professional Music Therapist (preferred)or eligibility to obtain licensure within 3 months of hire.
