Reliable and efficient algorithms for multi-agent trajectory planning is an essential building block of future autonomous flying systems. In recent years, the incorporation of machine learning methods to enhance optimization has proven to be advantageous. Despite these advantages, the applications to complex and certifiable products remain limited.
We are looking for a creative Master student to enhance novel optimization methods for robust multi-aircraft formation flight. The work may involve a wide range of mathematical and algorithmic methods, spanning from geometrical approaches to state-of-the-art deep learning techniques. The student will benefit from the close support of experienced members from our research and technology team, a plateau tasked with development of advanced algorithms.
The department "Flight Management Systems" at Airbus Defence and Space is in charge of system design and development of military and civil Flight Management Systems (FMS) and Flight Guidance functions. This covers manned aircraft and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) like Barracuda, Eurodrone, Bird of Prey and Ravenstorm including automatic/autonomous operations of these unmanned aircraft.
