Job summary

University of Alaska invites applications for an International Student Coordinator at UAF's International Student and Scholar Services. This full-time, term-funded position serves as the office's first point of contact and supports international students and scholars with immigration guidance and confidential recordkeeping.

Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills, and familiarity with F-1 and J-1 regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and two years progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of F-1 and J-1 visa regulations and compliance requirements affecting international students and scholars.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records, coordinating database and reporting requirements, and meeting federal reporting deadlines.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory information clearly and effectively.
• U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent residence (required by federal regulations) required for DSO/ARO certification.
• Ability to successfully complete required biennial criminal background checks, in accordance with applicable federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and communicate complex immigration requirements clearly and compassionately.
• Support international students and scholars and maintain confidentiality.
• Coordinate with DSO/ARO and university policies.
