Job summary

The George Washington University (GWU) is seeking a Manager of International Student and Scholar Advising to lead immigration compliance for F‑1/J‑1 students and scholars. You will supervise two full‑time staff, oversee ISO admissions and exchanges, and interpret regulations for attendance, transfers, extensions and status changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area plus 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience.
• Degree required by start date; substitution possible with equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, approves, and prepares I‑20 and DS‑2019 forms and maintains SEVIS data while advising on immigration compliance.
• Oversees policy development related to sponsorship of international students.
• Oversees the Exchange Coordinator and inbound international student exchanges, supporting agreements and partner relations.
• Oversees the Senior International Services Associate handling admissions tasks processed by ISO.
• Provides oversight of J‑1 Scholar requests, orientations and inquiries.
• Coordinates welcome center checks, orientation, and programs to assist international students’ adjustment.
• Leads Exchange Coordinator to support partner universities in exchange programs.
• Represents ISO at meetings as required by leadership.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
