Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an International Case Coordinator to manage the intake of international patients and guide families through the BCH experience from admission to completion of care, aligning with hospital policies.

You will collaborate with families, payors, and the International Financial Counselor to ensure coverage, support care planning, expedite scheduling, and maintain accurate electronic documentation using EPIC and SharePoint.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience working in health care, customer or language services.
  • Second language strongly preferred.
  • International life experience and experience serving an international clientele is a plus.

Job description

Position Summary:

The International Case Coordinator will conduct patient intake, facilitate new patient orientation and serves as the primary point of contact for a less complex International patient caseload. Accountable for managing all aspect of the coordination of care process, patient financial responsibilities and navigating BCH international patients and their families through the BCH experience from admission to completion of care in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing the international patient intake process, by accurately capturing international patient registration.
  • Collaborates with patient family , payor and International Financial Counselor (IFC) to ensure accurate coverage throughout the care episode.
  • Supports efforts of the Patient Care Team in the development of the plan of care and support obtaining payer approval. Expedite all clinical scheduling and follow-up on all referral request according to approvals. Working with case management teams to ensure safe and timely delivery of medications, equipment and supplies to patients.
  • Commercial Payor: (Obtaining CPT Codes from clinical team and share them with IFC to obtain the necessary approvals).
  • Embassy Payor: working with IMS team to develop Plan of Care (before arrival) & Updated Treatment Plan (while in Boston). Working closely with the embassy advisors to update them about the ongoing treatment of their patients and make sure to obtain approvals for the necessary referrals).
  • Self-Pay payor: Working with clinical team to obtain a complete plan of care including all CPT Codes and share it with IFC so an estimate can be obtained and shared with the clinical team for final approval.
  • Works with patient families to assess needs, answer questions, provide educational support.
  • Utilizes EPIC notes, SharePoint tracking, and other technology as defined, inter-department communications, and communications with Embassies and Payors system to optimize individual performance. Completes and maintains accurate and accessible electronic documentation as required by the department in accordance with hospital standards promptly.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma/GED is required.
  • Bachelors Degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum Two years of experience working in health care, customer or language services, hospitality is required. International Business, Healthcare, or related field is preferred.
  • Second language strongly preferred. International life experience and experience serving an international clientele in a work environment.
