Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the SCEIS accounting system and related financial regulations.
  • Experience with deposits, revenue recognition, and journal entries.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Process deposits received through the DNR AR unit.
  • Receive, verify, and deposit all revenue monies (cash, checks, money orders).
  • Process wire transfers and ACH deposits from Wells Fargo Commercial Electronic Office.
  • Prepare and record journal entries for ACH deposits.
  • Deposit revenue from SAP Invoice System and manual invoicing.
  • Reconcile and maintain records for certified mail and notifications to the Solicitor's Office.
  • Record and monitor financial transactions from third party vendors.
  • Assist with streamlining processes for accurate recording of financial transactions.

Job description

This employee will be responsible for daily operations of the DNR Accounts Receivable (AR) unit to include receipt and deposit of monies received from various DNR locations statewide.

Job Duties Include:
  • Being responsible for the processing of deposits received through DNR AR unit.
  • Receiving, verifying, and depositing all revenue monies received by the Agency.
    • This includes cash, checks and money orders.
  • Processing wire transfers and ACH deposits from Wells Fargo Commercial Electronic Office bank account.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, preparing and recording journal entries for ACH deposits.
  • Depositing revenue received from entities billed by DNR through SAP Invoice System as well as manual invoicing of DNR.
  • Maintaining the Department's Return Check Composite Reservoir Account. This includes:
    • Reconciling the account on a monthly basis.
    • Maintaining clear and concise records for letters mailed, specifically indicating the certified mail identification numbers.
    • Ensuring the internal records and spreadsheets mirror the DNR Financial Systems with regards to the clear receipt of certified mail and the clear notification to the Solicitor's Office.
  • Overseeing the deposit of revenue received from entities billed by DNR through SAP Invoice System.
  • Assisting with the collecting, auditing, and distributing of monies in game, fish, boating, restitution, and commercial fisheries fines annually to appropriate County Game & Fish accounts.
  • Recording and monitoring all financial transactions from third party vendors which includes:
    • recording of financial transactions
    • balancing and reconciliation of accounts
    • verification of accounting documents
  • Assisting with streamlining processes for accurate recording of financial transactions.

A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.A high school diploma and four (4) years clerical accounting experience and government accounting or bookkeeping or a bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses preferred. Ability to operate standard office equipment. A thorough knowledge of SCEIS accounting system and a good understanding of Department Law Enforcement ticket structure, financial structure and laws, SC Tax laws, rules and regulations. Ability to interpret and apply Departmental and SCEIS policies and procedures. Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and terminology of accounting, banking and financial management. Knowledge of state government fiscal, accounting processes regarding best practices. Ability to proficiently apply mathematical concepts and interpret and analyze financial data, records and reports. Ability to work independently with only occasional supervision. Ability to make quality decisions, pay attention to detail, accurately prepare for deposit of large sums of revenue from various DNR locations and to meet established deadlines. Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with coworkers, county magistrates and treasurers, and clerks of court.
