Job summary

NC State University’s CVM Teaching Hospital seeks an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician to join a busy academic clinical service in Raleigh, NC. You will work closely with veterinary students, clinicians, and clients to ensure high-quality patient care from admission to discharge.

Required are a completed accredited veterinary technician program or equivalent, and strong teamwork under a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with clients for seamless patient check-ins, admissions, scheduling, and compassionate updates.
• Master service-specific cases with veterinary students and clinicians on problems, diagnostics, treatment protocols, and care plans.
• Execute and support diagnostic tests and procedures, including anesthesia monitoring and routine bloodwork.
• Prepare patients for procedures with aseptic technique and maintain sterile environment.
• Deliver high-level patient care: monitor vitals, venipuncture, IV catheters, wound care, and sedation therapies.
• Perform drug calculations, CRIs, IV fluids, analgesia, and antibiotic administrations.
• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care and manage pain.
• Monitor patients with complex diseases and use imaging modalities with teams.
• Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Record and communicate data in hospital information systems.
• Assist in teaching veterinary students and residents.
