Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Hope Advanced Veterinary Center in Vienna, VA seeks an Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, restraining and handling patients, preparing surgery suites, and clerical work.

The team collaborates in a AAHA-accredited specialty and emergency hospital, utilizing ultrasound and endoscopy to manage complex cases and provide exceptional patient care. Growth, teamwork, and a supportive environment are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience in a veterinary clinical environment.
• Experience with patient restraint, medication preparation, hospitalized patient care, and supporting diagnostic and sedated procedures.
• Must communicate professionally, work collaboratively, and safely perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room, taking the patient's weight and other vital signs upon arrival.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by the licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's).
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital and equipment.
