Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty & Emergency (PSVSE) in Gig Harbor, WA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team on a full-time, four-day schedule (Monday–Thursday). You will support specialists with exams, diagnostics, and client communication while delivering compassionate care to our patients.

This role emphasizes long-term care and client education within a collaborative specialty setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of veterinary assistant experience
• Strong patient restraint and animal handling skills
• Comfortable communicating with clients in routine and sensitive situations
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Positive attitude with willingness to learn and grow
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
• Current Washington Veterinary Clerk License preferred; willing to obtain one with PSVSE support

Responsibilities

• Assisting Internal Medicine Specialist and team with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
• Safely restraining patients for examinations, imaging, procedures, and treatments
• Preparing patients for advanced diagnostics and specialty procedures
• Obtaining patient histories and maintaining accurate medical records
• Providing compassionate client communication, including updates and discharge instructions
• Maintaining treatment areas, stocking supplies, and ensuring workflow efficiency
• Collaborating with Emergency and Specialty teams to deliver seamless patient care
• Delivering outstanding service to every patient and family
