HonorHealth Internal Medicine Residency Program at Thompson Peak Medical Center is seeking a dedicated physician to join as Core Faculty Member or Associate Program Director, depending on experience. The role involves inpatient hospital medicine shifts and leadership in POCUS curriculum and resident assessment.

You will mentor residents and medical students, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in quality improvement, and contribute to program committees and didactic activities.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school required.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine required.
  • Arizona license eligibility preferred.
  • Experience in hospital medicine and medical education is desirable.

Responsibilities

Location: HonorHealth Internal Medicine Residency Program – Thompson Peak Medical Center, John C. Lincoln Medical Center

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced physician to join our Internal Medicine Residency Program as a Core Faculty Member or Associate Program Director, depending on level of experience. This role involves approximately 8 inpatient hospital medicine shifts per month and a significant role in the development and implementation of the point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum, resident assessment, and quality assurance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
  • Provide high-quality inpatient care during 8 hospital medicine shifts per month.
  • Supervise and mentor residents and medical students during inpatient rotations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Educational Duties
  • Develop and lead the point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum for residents.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops on POCUS for residents.
  • Conduct POCUS training for medical students during IM clerkship.
  • Assist pre-clinical faculty in teaching ultrasound to medical students during pre-clinical coursework.
  • Assess residents' proficiency in POCUS and provide constructive feedback.
  • Conduct clinical teaching during patient care activities and didactic sessions.
  • Participate in the evaluation and assessment of residents' and students' clinical performance.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to residents and students in their professional development.
  • Serve on program committees including Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee.
  • Participate in didactic activities including morning report, grand rounds, and academic half day.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for Arizona State License.
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in hospital medicine.
  • Proficiency in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and experience in curriculum development.
  • Strong commitment to resident education and mentorship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives is preferred.
