Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and board-certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.

Adventist Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced physician leader to join our team as the Associate Program Director for our Internal Medicine Residency Program in Bakersfield, California. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the development and execution of our residency program, ensuring the highest standards of medical education, patient care, and professional development for our residents.

Tasked with helping ensure the success of the program’s aims and objectives, the Associate Program Director dedicates approximately 24 hours per week to residency training and administration while maintaining an active clinical practice. The role requires direct patient care responsibilities, continuous supervision of residents, mentoring, and hands‑on teaching.

Major Responsibilities

Compensation/Benefits

Salary Range: $342,000-$378,000 (2yr guarantee)

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM)
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid and unrestricted California medical license
• One to three years of graduate medical education and/or administrative experience preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to resident education, mentorship, and clinical excellence

Preferred

• Experience in a community-based residency program
• Familiarity with ACGME credentialing processes and data reporting requirements
• Experience with technology-enhanced educational tools and learning management systems
• Active scholarly productivity and quality improvement projects
