Job summary

Central Maine Healthcare seeks an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner in Lewiston, Maine. The NP provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary and specialty medical care to adults, evaluating, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic conditions with emphasis on preventive care and patient education.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited NP program.
• Current national NP certification (ANCC or AANP).
• Active RN and APRN/NP license in the applicable state.
• AGPCNP or FNP certification depending on practice.
• Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required by the employer.
• Experience in internal medicine, primary care, or adult healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in adult medicine.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other studies.
• Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
• Provide preventive healthcare, including health screenings, immunizations, and wellness counseling.
• Educate patients regarding medications, lifestyle modifications, disease management, and preventive health.
• Coordinate referrals and care with specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and follow applicable clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards.
