Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine is seeking an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner to join our Internal Medicine team serving the Central Maine region. The NP will provide comprehensive, evidence-based primary and specialty care to adult patients, evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions while emphasizing preventive care and patient education.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited NP program.
• Current national NP certification (ANCC or AANP).
• Active RN and APRN/NP license in Maine.
• AGPCNP or FNP certification depending on practice.
• Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required.
• Experience in internal medicine, primary care, or adult healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in adults.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with patients and team.
• Order and interpret lab tests and imaging studies.
• Prescribe medications and monitor effectiveness and adverse effects.
• Provide preventive care, screenings, immunizations, and wellness counseling.
• Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, and cardiovascular conditions.
• Educate patients on medications, lifestyle changes, and disease management.
• Coordinate referrals with specialists, hospitals, and other providers.
• Document encounters in the EMR and participate in quality-improvement initiatives.
