Job summary

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking a Direct Support Professional for part-time 23.5 hours per week to support residents in our group homes. You will assist with personal care, documentation and transportation, working as part of a compassionate team.

The role requires a HS diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet CPR/First Aid requirements. Paid training and a comprehensive benefits package are included.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care (bathing, toileting) and daily living activities.
• Supervise and support residents in group-home settings.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Transport residents to programs using agency vehicles; document services daily.
• Engage residents in community activities and maintain accurate records.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e., bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities.

Job Requirements:

• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.

Part Time-Shift: 23.5 hours per week (Saturday 7:00am - 2:00pm, Sunday 7:00am - 3:00pm, Monday 7:00am - 10:30pm and Tuesday 4:00pm - 9:00pm)

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting – date/time to be determined and announced in advance.
