Job summary

The Department for Persons With Disabilities (DPD) seeks a part-time Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor to assist residents in group homes in North Carolina. You will support personal care, medication administration, and daily living activities, while ensuring safety and dignity.

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
• Participate and/or supervise cleaning, cooking and life skills activities.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Drive residents to and from day programs and other community activities using agency vehicles.
• Document services provided on a daily basis.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Job Requirements

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Part Time - Shift

20.5 hours per week (Monday 2:30pm - 11:00pm, Tuesday 7:00am - 11:00am, and Sunday 3:00pm - 11:00pm).

All offers of employment are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background check, reference check, DMV check, fingerprinting, pre‑employment physical, and drug test. All staff must attend a monthly staff meeting—date and time to be determined and announced in advance. Meeting waivers are provided for conflicts due to secondary employment or school, with appropriate documentation required.
