The Internal Communications Specialist at SEARHC in Juneau, AK, supports planning, development, execution, and evaluation of internal communications to inform and engage SEARHC employees across Southeast Alaska.

The Internal Communications Specialist serves as a member of the Marketing and Communications Department and reports to the Director of Communications. This role supports the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of internal communications initiatives that inform, engage, and connect SEARHC employees across Southeast Alaska. Write, edit, and proofread high-quality internal communications, including executive messages, leadership communications, newsletters, intranet content, email campaigns, presentations, and employee-facing announcements. Translate complex or technical information into clear, concise, and engaging communications tailored to specific employee audiences. Review content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, readability, brand alignment, and compliance considerations.
Support the development and execution of internal communication plans that align with organizational priorities, business objectives, operational updates, and change management initiatives. Manage and maintain designated internal communication channels, including intranet, newsletters, and employee communication tools. Build and maintain a pipeline of story ideas, content opportunities, and reusable messaging that can support multiple internal communications channels. Coordinate communication schedules and editorial calendars to ensure timely and consistent messaging. Gather information from subject matter experts, internal teams, and approved sources to create accurate and meaningful content. Develop clear and compelling stories, articles, newsletter content, intranet copy, and other communications that highlight programs, key projects, and organizational initiatives.
Track and analyze communication metrics to assess effectiveness, engagement, and audience reach. Prepare reports and recommendations that inform future communication strategies and continuous improvement efforts. Monitor employee feedback and communication trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives through communication planning, promotional support, and event coordination. Assist with planning and execution of employee meetings, town halls, special events, and recognition activities.
Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines and tone of voice standards. Support consistency in messaging across internal materials.
This position does not require direct supervisory responsibilities. Other duties as assigned to support communications from SEARHC departments, leaders, and employees.
Required Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
Three or more years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, employee communications, or a related field.
