Job summary

The SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) seeks an Internal Communications Manager to guide statewide internal messaging, engage employees, and support BHDD's mission from its Central Office in Cayce.

You will own the editorial calendar, review and craft executive communications, and coach staff on writing standards while coordinating across Human Resources and Talent. A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing skills with ability to write in plain language for a broad staff audience.
• Knowledge of internal communications practices and channels, including reaching non-desk employees.
• Ability to plan and maintain a regular schedule of staff communications.
• Skill in working across departments, particularly with Human Resources and Talent.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment; familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a comprehensive internal communications plan and editorial calendar.
• Review, edit, and approve emails, memos, newsletters, intranet content; manage distribution lists.
• Maintain style guides and provide training on standards; provide copywriting and editing for executive communications.
