Job description

Help Us Tell the Stories That Empower People.

Be the voice behind our mission of belonging, connection, and impact.

Remote position but must be located within reasonable driving distance to Omaha, NE

At Mosaic, we are on a relentless mission to empower people and create meaningful opportunities across our communities. But behind every transformative mission is a connected, informed, and inspired workforce.

That’s where you come in.

As our Internal Communication Specialist, you will be the heart of our employee experience—the storyteller who keeps our team engaged, aligned, and celebrated. You are equal parts strategist and wordsmith: able to translate executive visions into clear narratives, write crisp weekly updates, and foster a vibrant workplace culture across every department.

If you love cutting through corporate noise, elevating employee voices, and connecting daily work to a higher purpose, you’ll find a home here.

What You’ll Do (The Day-to-Day)

  • Craft the Narrative: Write, edit, and launch engaging workforce communications, including our signature weekly eNewsletter, Monday Minute.
  • Executive Ghostwriting: Draft regular columns, strategic announcements, and high-impact messaging for our CEO and leadership team.
  • Strategic Change Campaigns: Partner with cross-functional project teams to map out and execute communication plans that guide employees smoothly through company updates.
  • Culture & Celebration: Lead messaging for major appreciation events (One Mosaic Day, DSP Recognition Week, Nurses Week) and support executive event planning.
  • Empower the Field: Equip local operations managers with plug-and-play templates and messaging guides to help them communicate seamlessly with local teams.
  • Innovate & Measure: Experiment with modern comms software (like Workshop)

Who You Are

  • A Wordsmith & Simplifier: You naturally take complex organizational updates and translate them into human, relatable language everyone can understand.
  • A Dual Threat (Strategist + Doer): You can build a high-level communication plan and roll up your sleeves to write the individual emails, posts, and announcements.
  • Tech-Savvy Communicator: You are quick to adopt modern internal email software and communication platforms.
  • Adaptable & Agile: Fast-paced environments don't shake you; you manage competing deadlines with ease and pivot quickly when priorities shift.
  • Purpose-Driven: You bring empathy, authenticity, and a genuine passion for advocating for and serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of communications experience. (Experience in internal comms, executive messaging, or change management is a major plus!)
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%
