Internal & Executive Communications Manager

Job Summary

The Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) was established in 2021with a vision to free the world from mental health stigma, bring anend to suffering, and integrate mind and body to improve life forevery person.

The Internal & Executive Communications Manager plays a dualrole in fostering a strong organizational culture and elevating thevoice and visibility of HMHI's senior leadership. This positiondivides its focus between internal/employee communications andexecutive communications support, working closely with seniorleaders to develop compelling presentations, talking points, andexternal-facing content that reflects HMHI's mission andpriorities. As part of the HMHI Marketing and Communications team,this individual is a subject matter expert in both employeeengagement and executive positioning, ensuring that communicationsdirected at staff and at external audiences alike are aligned,polished, and strategically sound.

Responsibilities
Internal Communications
  • Develop and execute an internal communications plan to engageemployees, including physicians, researchers, staff, andfaculty.
  • Write, edit, and oversee internal content across channels suchas newsletters, leadership letters, success stories, annualreports, event materials, blog posts, and intranet pages.
  • Deliver core internal communications, including loop screens,physical signage, and special events and announcements.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, aesthetics, and tone across allinternal content, working collaboratively to align with HMHI's values and with U Health and University of Utah marketingefforts.
Executive Communications
  • Design and prepare polished, high-impact presentations forsenior leadership, including board materials, town halls, andexternal speaking engagements.
  • Manage and develop content for executive social media presence, helping leaders build and maintain an authentic, strategic voice onrelevant platforms.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, letters, messages, remarks, andvideo scripts for leadership use in internal and externalsettings.
  • -Develop thought leadership content, such as op-eds, bylinedarticles, and speaking proposals, to position senior leaders as subject matter experts.
  • Partner directly with senior leaders and other stakeholders totranslate complex initiatives and strategy communications intoclear, compelling narratives for varied audiences.
General
  • Partner closely with the broader marketing and communicationsteam to deliver on overall organizational goals andobjectives.
  • Use data, analytics, and metrics to inform decisions andrecommendations about channels and content.
  • Handle information with discretion and confidentiality,particularly for executive-level communications, while maintainingstrong attention to detail and visual aesthetics.
Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).

Marketing Communication Specialist, III: Requiresa bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Marketing Communication Specialist, IV: Requires abachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences
  • Four to six years of progressively responsible experience incommunications, with demonstrated experience supporting seniorleadership or executive-level communications preferred.
  • Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership or executive-levelcommunications
  • Strong writing skills, with copyediting experiencepreferred
  • Excellent presentation design skills (PowerPoint orsimilar)
  • Experience managing social media for a leader ororganization
  • Familiarity with incorporating AI tools into daily workflows,including research, organization, project management, videoproduction, and content review
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, email platforms (e.g.,MyEmma, Populo), Microsoft Office suite, and SmartSheet
