American Veterinary Group's Piedmont Equine Associates is seeking an Equine Intern (Intern Veterinarian) to gain broad medical and surgical experience, mentored by senior clinicians, with a year-long path to becoming a competent equine practitioner.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning, case diversity, and professional growth, including mentorship across all practice areas, supportive staff, and a structured education plan designed for new graduates.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from AVMA accredited college or equivalent (ECVFG/PAVE).
• Active license in good standing to practice in the state of employment or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage clinical responsibilities as a veterinarian in the clinic.
• Support staff development through mentorship and training programs.
• Promote excellent client experience and the human-animal bond.
• Manage multiple patients and priorities within time constraints.

Education

Equine Intern to our team! There is an opportunity to see a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, learn from senior clinicians and surgeons, and develop into a competent, well-rounded, practicing equine veterinarian in a year. This position would be a great opportunity for a new graduate looking for mentorship across all areas of practice. Our interns’ education and experience are a top priority as they are the future of equine veterinary medicine!

Key Responsibilities

• Veterinarian’s role in the Clinic is a position of leadership, trust, and respect and shall conduct themselves accordingly
• Support the development of staff members through support of the Company’s LevelUp clinical training program
• Promote the human-animal bond through exceptional client experience
• Manage multiple patients and varying priorities within allotted timeframes

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program).
• Active license in good standing to practice in the state in which candidate will be employed (or the ability to obtain a license in that state).
