Job summary

American Veterinary Group (AVG) is seeking an Equine Intern to join the General Practice Hospitals team at Piedmont Equine Associates. You’ll gain exposure to diverse medical and surgical cases and receive mentorship from senior clinicians, shaping you into a capable equine veterinarian through structured education over a year.

This role emphasizes hands-on experience, professional growth, and availability of mentorship across all practice areas to prepare you for independent practice.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of ECFVG or PAVE).
• Active license to practice in the employed state or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead with professionalism and build trust within the clinic.
• Support staff development through the LevelUp clinical training program.
• Promote exceptional client experience and human-animal bond.
• Manage multiple patients and priorities within set timeframes.

We are excited to add an Equine Intern to our team! There is an opportunity to see a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, learn from senior clinicians and surgeons, and develop into a competent, well-rounded, practicing equine veterinarian in a year. This position would be a great opportunity for a new graduate looking for mentorship across all areas of practice. Our interns’ education and experience are a top priority as they are the future of equine veterinary medicine!

Key Responsibilities

• Veterinarian’s role in the Clinic is a position of leadership, trust, and respect and shall conduct themselves accordingly
• Support the development of staff members through support of the Company’s LevelUp clinical training program
• Promote the human-animal bond through exceptional client experience
• Manage multiple patients and varying priorities within allotted timeframes

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program).
• Active license in good standing to practice in the state in which candidate will be employed (or the ability to obtain a license in that state).
