Job summary

Vaughn Industries is seeking a VDC – MEP & Utility Intern in Lewis Center, OH. You will work with VDC professionals and project teams on multi-million-dollar projects from design through construction.

You will gain hands-on BIM experience with Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks, and learn clash detection, preconstruction estimating, and coordination of MEP systems under mentorship. This internship could lead to a full-time career in VDC or construction technology.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in VDC, BIM, MEP systems, utilities, or construction technology.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn.
• Comfortable learning new technology and software.
• Experience with Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or other BIM/modeling platforms is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to projects where VDC helps plan, coordinate, estimate, and build complex systems.
• Gain hands-on experience with BIM, 3D modeling, construction drawings, and digital construction technologies including Inventor.
• Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, High Voltage, Technology, and Utility systems.
• Learn clash detection and constructability using digital models and Inventor to resolve conflicts before field issues.
• Assist with preconstruction, estimating, bid preparation, and how VDC supports project planning.
• See how digital models translate into real-world construction and support prefabrication and installation.
• Work with mentors across VDC, engineering, estimating, and construction teams.
