Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Intern – Signalling Engineer for summer 2027 to gain exposure to Wayside Signalling Engineering. The on-site position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, with real-world projects and mentorship opportunities.

Eligible students will join from May 2027 through August 2027, with paid internship benefits and events designed to build a career with a global digital transformation leader in rail technology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications.
• Assist in programming wayside microprocessor devices in accordance with interlocking rules and all related specifications.
• Prepare project and design documentation.
• Assist with test setup and testing of wayside systems. This includes system integration testing with Carborne, office and other systems.
• Follow established design principles, procedures and specifications as detailed for proper programming of microprocessor devices.
• Assist in developing cost estimates for project bids

We’re looking for eligible students to join Hitachi Rail! Hiring for May 2027 through August 2027.

Accountabilities:

• Assist in the design of wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications.
• Assist in programming wayside microprocessor devices in accordance with interlocking rules and all related specifications.

Education:

Current Engineering student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
