Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Intern - Onboard Software Developer in Pittsburgh, PA. The role spans administrative to strategic tasks and offers hands-on experience in the dynamic world of urban transit.

You will assist with design, programming, and documentation of onboard software, gaining exposure to signaling systems for metros and light rail. Mentorship and paid internship are provided.

Qualifications

• Current Electrical or Software Engineering student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
• Strong relevant technical skills are required.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of onboard software development in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications.
• Assist in programming onboard software development in accordance with rules and all related specifications.
• Assist with preparation of project and design documentation.
• Assist with test setup and testing of onboard software development systems.
